ജാതിയുടെ മേലോട്ടുള്ള തൃഷ്ണാബന്ധനത്തെ മുറിച്ച് കീഴോട്ടുള്ള ഒരു ഇറക്കത്തെയാണ് സമത്വപൂര്‍ണമായ ഒരു സമൂഹസൃഷ്ടിയിലേക്കായി നാരായണഗുരു വിഭാവന ചെയ്തത്. ഈഴവര്‍ പുലയരായാലേ മനുഷ്യരാകൂ എന്നതാണീയാദര്‍ശത്തിന്റെ പ്രയോഗം എന്നാണ് പുലയനയ്യപ്പനും പി. കെ. ബാലകൃഷ്ണനും മറ്റും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത്. വരേണ്യതയുടെ പടികളിറങ്ങി അടിത്തട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള ഈ കീഴിറക്കമാണ് നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തിലെ യഥാര്‍ഥ ജനായത്തവല്‍ക്കരണവും സമഭാവനയെന്നും പിന്നീട് പല സാമൂഹ്യ ചിന്തകരും മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. ദലിതീകരണം എന്നും മറ്റും വിളിക്കുന്ന ഈ സാമൂഹ്യസംതുലനത്തിന്റെ പൂര്‍വദര്‍ശകനും പ്രയോക്താവുമായിരുന്നു പുലയനയ്യപ്പന്‍.
കേരളത്തിന്റെ സംസ്കാര രാഷ്ട്രീയ ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ അനവധി സഖാക്കള്‍ നമുക്കുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഒരൊറ്റ സഹോദരന്‍ മാത്രമേയുള്ളു എന്നു വിലയിരുത്തിയത് എം. ഗോവിന്ദനാണ്. സാഹോദര്യവാദത്തിന്റെ ജൈവനൈതികതയും മാനവിക മൂല്യവും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന പ്രസ്താവമാണിത്. നിരവധി ചിന്തകരും രാഷ്ട്രീയ
പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും തന്നെ ആകര്‍ഷിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും അതില്‍ ഒരാളെ മാത്രമാണ് താന്‍ മാസ്റര്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നതെന്നും അത് തന്റെ അയ്യപ്പന്‍ മാസ്ററാണെന്നും കേശവദേവ് എഴുതുകയുണ്ടായി. സഹോദരവാദത്തിന്റെ വര്‍ത്തമാന പ്രസക്തിയെ ഊന്നുന്നതാണ് സമകാലിക നവജനായത്ത പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടേയും ദലിത്-ന്യൂനപക്ഷ സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടേയും ഭാഗമായി ഉയര്‍ന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന സാഹോദര്യ പ്രസ്ഥാനം. നവോത്ഥാന കാലത്തും ആധുനികതയിലും പുതിയ ആധുനികോത്തര വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളിലും അനിഷേധ്യവും നിര്‍ണായകവുമായ സ്വാധീനമാണ് സഹോദരനും സഹോദരവാദവും പുലര്‍ത്തിപ്പോരുന്നത്.
ഇരുപത്തൊന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ എഴുത്തധികാരത്തേയും സംസ്കാര രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തേയും ചരിത്രരചനയേയും പ്രശ്നവല്‍ക്കരിച്ച നവജനായത്ത പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഊര്‍ജമാണ് സഹോദരനെ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. സഹോദരവാദത്തെ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാനുള്ള എന്റെ എളിയ പരിശ്രമത്തെ സാര്‍ഥകമാക്കിയത് ദലിതരുടേയും സ്ത്രീകളുടേയും ന്യൂനപക്ഷങ്ങളുടേയും സംഘര്‍ഷഭരിതമായ പുതിയ പോരാട്ടങ്ങളായിരുന്നു. യഥാര്‍ഥത്തില്‍ ദലിത് എഴുത്തുകാരായ കെ. കെ. കൊച്ചും ബാബുരാജുമായി നടത്തിയ നിരന്തര സംവാദങ്ങളിലൂടെയാണ് സഹോദരന്റെ ആശയസംഹിതയുടെ ചരിത്രഗൌരവവും ഭാവിയിലേക്കുള്ള സാധ്യതകളും ഞാന്‍ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ ദലിത് സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരിലൂടെ സഹോദരന്‍ തിരിച്ചു വരികയായിരുന്നു. കീഴാള ന്യൂനപക്ഷ സാംസ്കാരിക ദൌത്യം പേറുന്ന കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ അതര്‍ ബുക്സാണ് സഹോദരനെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പുസ്തകം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാനുള്ള താല്‍പ്പര്യം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചതും.
