BASQUIAT EXHIBIT
In this 1985 image provided by the Brooklyn Museum, the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat is shown surrounded by his work. By his early 20s, Basquiat was internationally renowned for his art, counting the likes of Andy Warhol among friends. At 27, he was dead, his career cut down by a heroin overdose. An exhibit of his work opened Friday at the Brooklyn Museum and runs through June 5 before traveling to Los Angeles and Houston. The show, on two floors, contains over 100 of the artist’s vividly colored paintings and drawings. (AP Photo/Lizzy Himmel, Brooklyn Museum)
